Solution
Belo chose Neopost's FriendShip®, a high-end mailing machine
for the medical center's mailroom. His decision was based on mailing
system's reliability, ease of use and time- and money-saving features
that automatically search out the best carrier and rate for sending
mail and parcels. "Neopost's service personnel," he notes, "got
us up and running in a day and also showed us how to handle and
bar code our mail to get the best rates under the reclassification
guidelines."
"I've worked with lots of mailroom equipment," says Belo "and the
Neopost machines are some of the most durable." He adds that the
time saved from easier mail handling has yielded an extra 10 to
12 staff-hours a week. This time has been used to cross train the
mailroom staff for additional efficiencies. In dollars, these savings
account for an additional $75,000 to $100,000 per year.
In addition to the best carrier and rate-searching capabilities,
the Neopost system networks the two mailing machines to provide
cumulative totals and unlimited report format options. "Sometimes
I get calls from hospital people who just want a summary for one
day," says Belo. "The Neopost system stores the information for
months prior and I can pull up what I need without spending the
time on a backup tape drive search."
Neopost's service has been excellent, according to Belo. When one
of the connecting wires failed to function properly at first, a
Neopost service person came out and solved the problem. "Then the
service person helped us meter the mail and get it out." notes Belo.
"Whenever they feel that they've taken us away from our processing
time, they stick around and make sure we get everything sorted out.
You just don't find that kind of service too often."
"I've worked with lots of mailroom equipment and the Neopost
machines are some of the most durable," says Chris Belo the mailroom
director at Georgetown University Medical Center and Hospital.
