ADDITIONAL FriendShip® BENEFITS

The FriendShip® system automatically decides which shipping carrier to use depending on set criteria, including cost and destination. Otis Pollard, the Board’s FriendShip operator, rarely has to choose the method of shipment the system does it for him.

Another time and money saving feature of the General Board of Global Ministries’ FriendShip® system: There is no longer a need for the mailroom staff to manually type labels or to purchase special labels, because the FriendShip® system will automatically do this for them. The Board also likes the s ystem’s multi-carrier feature, which allows them to comparison-shop when choosing between UPS and the U.S. Postal Service, the two carriers the Board elects to use.

FriendShip® PS500 Series Package Shipping Automation System:

• The FriendShip® PS500 Series is specifically designed for medium- to high-volume shippers, or for any shipping department that places a high priority on accessing shipping and handling information daily.
  
• The standard system includes the FriendShip® PS500 Series software, high-performance PC, custom-designed keyboard, VGA color monitor, commercial scale, high-speed report printer, PS/2 mouse, Windows® 95 operating system, 33.6K external modem and anti-virus protection software. A variety of peripherals and add-on software modules allow the system to be customized to specific shipping or mail accounting requirements.
  
• The multi-carrier rate-shopping function selects the most cost-effective shipping method based on destination, customer volume, weight, zone and delivery time requirements. The software includes rate information for UPS, RPS, FedEx and USPS, with options for DHL, Emery, Airborne Express, couriers, regional LTLs or private fleet carriers.
  
• A custom, programmable rate key allows customers to designate a key for rates negotiated with individual carriers or LTLs in a manner similar to speed dialing on a phone.
