Boeings St. Louis Mailroom Flies High
With Neopost
Situation
When Paul Tucker, group manager of mail services at Boeing's St.
Louis aircraft and missile manufacturing plant, needed to replace
an old console folder/inserter, he had to act fast. The Boeing mailroom
had reached an outgoing mail volume of 5,000 letters a week, made
up mostly of statements to customers. In addition, the staff had
to mail out nearly 150,000 employee W-2 tax forms each January.
But the outdated folder/inserter Boeing was using couldn't handle
many of the mailing jobs, so much of the work was being done by
hand. What's more, the existing equipment was becoming increasingly
unreliable, and the manufacturer had stopped supporting it due to
its age.
